A company working with telephone systems and computer networks is investing more than £1 million as it takes on more workers and moves to bigger premises. The Infinity Group, currently in Leicester’s Rutland Street, is moving to Hill Top Road, Hamilton. It plans to increase its 40-strong workforce to 75 or 80 “as quickly as possible” according to senior communications consultant Ty Wilson. He said: “We are taking on people by word of mouth, but we do plan to advertise as well.”
Infinity has bought the former MCR Systems premises and gutted them to provide purpose built offices. This will give them 7,682sq ft of space – three times what they have now – which should be ready by the first weeks in August. The new building will have room for a larger call centre – up from eight to 25 operators – demonstration suites where customers can try out computers and phone systems, and a counter for mobile phones. Mr Wilson said: “The whole building will be a live demonstration of what can be done. It’s hard to spend thousands of pounds from a brochure or salesperson. “This will eliminate that. You can come and speak to our call centre guys and see how we run our own phone systems as well as the dedicated demonstration suite. ”
Mr Wilson said the group is increasing turn over by 60 per cent every year and has set its sights on “more aggressive expansion, with acquisitions, coming soon. We want to be the premier Leicester supplier of IT and telephones within three years.”
The company was originally set up by Simon Thakor in January, 2004, who realised there was a huge telecommunications opportunity in Leicester. It now has several divisions, including Infinity ICT for telecommunications and IT, Infinity Direct for wholesale distribution to mobile phone shops – and Infinity Connect for consumer and business mobiles. Mr Wilson said it would be good to get out of Leicester, away from the road works, to a site with parking for customers and room for a demonstration suite. “We have fantastic teams from MD to management to staff and engineers. Everyone understands the common goal,” he said.
